24 teams from 14 nations competed for the 4th annual AFL Europe Champions League trophy in Amsterdam.
To remind you, Zagreb Cvjetno Dockers, in their Pool C, faced the triple champions and the best club in Europe – Wild Cats from London. Besides them, Dockers also faced ALFA Lions and Bristol Dockers. After a very tense match against Sweden, Dockers claimed 9th place.
Sesvete Double Blues, in their Pool B, faced the teams Winterthur Lions, Stockholm Dynamite, Styrian DownUnderDogs and Wandsworth Demons. After a mammoth battle with the Lions they finished 7th.
For the second time in a row, Amsterdam and West London met in the men’s grand final. London Wildcats broke away from the Devils in the second half and claimed their fourth consecutive Champions League crown by 20 points.
One of the surprises of the tournament was women’s team West Clare West that defeated Wandsworth Demonsa and claimed their first win at a Champions League.
